| SL7: Compos now started .. | 2002-11-02 12:11:45
by: Slave | Saturday morning and so far we've got about 150 peeps here enjoying, what so far, must be the best SavLAN yet! ..
With Friday evening classed as a "warm up", Saturday sees the start of the competitions and we've got some really top prizes to give away for the winners ..
First up is the Q3 Capture-Strike (Q3CTFS) 6v6 Compo starting any time now .. 10 clans, including TJD, SCB, SPKS, Brother, KR, EK and DC will be battling it out for the 6 Gainward GeForce 4200's on offer ..
Then at about 7pm this evening will be the Q3 Team DeathMatch (Q3TDM) 4v4 compo where 8 clans, including DC, EK, F'UK, TJD and Brother will be trying their hardest to get their grubby little mitts on 4 AMD XP 2000 CPUs ..
Around the same time this evening will be the Warcraft 3 2v2 compo with 12 teams aiming to be the ones to walk away with the Everglide Optical Mouse pads and PC Carry cases ..
Tomorrow will see the Q3 Duel One on One Compo .. 32 players battling it out for the top prize, a AMD XP 2000 CPU and with Sid (2 time SavLAN 1v1 champ) away at the WCG Finals in Korea the field is wide open.
Also to be played tomorrow is the Counter-Strike (CS) 3v3 compo with 12 teams all aiming for the 3 AOpen motherboards which are being given away as first prize.

by: Slave | Quick news post to remind people that SavLAN 7 is this weekend! ..
If you've not paid yet you will be able to pay on the door as normal so don't think you can't come if you've forgotten to send your money in .. doors open at 12noon Friday but if you're wanting to get there a little early you can leave your PCs in the hall while we setup ..
Following on from that, Savage Groups (our mailing list site) is also now open and I have set up a "SavLAN" mailing list for people to join so they can chat about SavLANs and get the latest news about SavLANs at the same time ..
While not in time for SavLAN 7 I've now updated The Savage Shop with some of the latest games to hit the shelves including Battlefield 1942 and Unreal Tournament 2003 so if you've not got them yet this is the perfect time to order them ready for SavLAN8 ..
Talking of SavLAN8 .. for our next LAN we are looking to move location to a bigger hall, with better air management and much nicer surroundings .. so watch out for news of that in the next few weeks .. :)

A mail has now been sent to all players on the signup list reminding them that payment is now required as well as details of how to book their seating, if you have not received a mail and you have signed up please mail me and I'll send you a copy ..
We're just in the process of confirming sponsors for the event and I hope to start announcing them over the coming days .. :)

by: Slave | For those that don't know, SavLAN7 will be on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of November ..
Signups for the event are now open and with demand sure to outstrip the 175 place availability you are advised to register for the event as soon as you can.
Costs for SavLAN7 have been held at SavLAN6 prices and can be found on the cost and payment page.
As well as the normal collection of games played, such as Quake 2, Quake 3, Counter-Strike and Medal of Honor, we'll be looking to play the lastest games such as Battlefield 1942 and Unreal Tournament 2003 so much fun will be had. More news in the next few days.
